Hives booming

It's been awhile since I posted last, but the Grumpy Bee apiary continues strong.  Coming into spring with two of three hives surviving, we took advantage of having two strong hives and have built it to five healthy hives.

After a cool, wet spring and early summer, things really took off.  Queens were laying well and then we've had a terrific nectar flow.  This could be a record honey year for us.  Bees continue to bring in nectar, as plants such as clover and butterfly milkweed continue to produce.
